I have stage IV non-small cell lung cancer and came across some interesting research from Columbia University. Scientists discovered a new type of cell that helps lung tumors hide from our immune systems. They found special fibroblast cells that recruit regulatory T cells, which normally keep our immune system balanced but end up protecting the cancer instead. What caught my attention is that this research might lead to new treatments that help our immune systems fight lung cancer better. The treatments would still need a lot more development and testing, but it's encouraging to see scientists understanding more about how these tumors work.
