How can I cope with tongue cancer and ongoing oral symptoms?

I feel selfish talking about my tongue cancer after reading how much more other people gone through. I only had to have 2/3 of one quadrant removed and reconstructed. They didn’t get it all and now are waiting 3 months to see what happens. I’m so tired of not being able to taste everything. My tongue always hurts or is tingly and numb. Now I have another spot on my mouth but in a different place and to be honest, I’m pissed off about it

Your feelings about your experience are completely valid, and there's nothing selfish about sharing your struggles here. Every cancer journey comes with unique challenges, and the ongoing symptoms you're dealing with - the taste changes, pain, tingling, and numbness - are real and difficult to manage regardless of the extent of treatment. This community understands that waiting periods can be especially anxiety-provoking, and having new concerns arise can feel overwhelming, so please know that your frustration is entirely understandable and you deserve support through this.

I’m sorry you are going through this as well. You don’t need to feel selfish. This is a community that is going through similar diagnosis and treatments. Like Michael, I start my radiation and chemo on Monday. Treatment will be 7 weeks with radiation daily, 5 days a week and 1 round of chemo per week. My cancer is on my left lingual tonsil and L & R lymph nodes, and my ENT won’t do surgery as it would do more damage than good so we are trying this treatment first.

Hi Troy I started my treatment yesterday. Same here left tonsil and 2 lymph nodes . My Ent told me the same, no surgery more harm then good. Best of luck to you and Michael. 🙏🏻

Sorry for your tough journey. But, your troubles are equal to all of ours- you shouldn't compare them. It's not fair to YOU.😘

I ‘m so sorry that this happened to you. I am a foodie and I can’t imagine what you are going through. Any cancer is bad but that’s awful. Hugs

Hey Micheal, go on Amazon and get the Very High Calorie Ensure drinks. You will not be able to eat at all
