How do I prepare for stage 4 pancreatic cancer treatment and clinical trials?

Hello. My name is Sandi. I am 62 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on March 3, 2026. Scheduled to start chemo Wednesday. We have just visited MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Pending one more test of my biopsy sample, I may be eligible for 1 or 2 trials using one of the new medications that seems to have very good results. This trial is in addition to the chemo cocktail that we are already planning to use. With God as our greatest strength, we, my husband and I, are ready to take this journey together. We are willing to throw whatever we can at this nasty disease.

Preparing for treatment and potential clinical trials involves several important steps that many in this community have navigated. It's wonderful that you're exploring all available options, including the promising trials at MD Anderson, while maintaining such a strong support system with your husband. Many find it helpful to prepare questions for their medical team about trial protocols, side effect management, and what to expect during treatment cycles, while also connecting with others here who have experience with similar treatment paths.

I’m in a similar situation. May I ask what these new medications are? Or what type of trials? I would like to see if there are more options I could speak to my oncologist about. Stay strong! Le’s beat this together!!!

I'm in the same boat with the pancreatic cancer. I'm doing chemo right now, but what else do you have, or you say you're having other treatments? Which are these, please?

I am 74 with stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosed 2 years ago with metastases to the liver. Don't know why I'm still alive but I feel fine. Paclitaxel quit working for me and now I'm taking Camptozar and Adrucil 5FU. I've been trying to get Daraxonrasib but there are no new trials starting right now and they're not manufacturing enough for the expanded Access program. So it's a waiting game... My diet is fruits, nuts, berries, eggs, fermented products like pickles and kimchi and yogurt. They tell me I'm dying, but I can't feel that. I suppose I'm nursing a little bit of denial but it's been well over two years. Side effects from chemo seem to be different every time but none of them is intolerable.
