4 months agoI have a father with esophageal cancer, it's unfortunately stage 4, he has trouble eating because of it, it's a tumor in his throat. Does anyone have any ideas that could help him?
Accepted Answer
Eating challenges are unfortunately common with esophageal cancer, and many community members have found success with soft foods, smoothies, nutritional drinks, and smaller frequent meals throughout the day. Consider speaking with a registered dietitian who specializes in oncology nutrition, as they can provide personalized strategies to help maintain nutrition and make eating more comfortable during this difficult time.

4 months agoYes he has, problem is that anything liquid or solid. He regurgitates it almost immediately. He does have a feeding tube but he wants to eat regular food so bad and I hate watching him suffer

Community Member
4 months agoIt's possible I think. Last week he just started his first round of chemo first. I think after his chemo treatments then they wanna try radiation

4 months agoI can drink fluids not to thick but everything I need is through the feeding tube. I feel for him as I also Want to eat regular foods but this is not in the cards. And this is all after the treatment. Radiation is a bitch but without it I would not be here anymore. But the Drs would be the best source of treatment. Good luck

4 months agoI had some luck with aloe drinks and ‘cream of’ soups. Anything else wouldn’t go down or burned my throat (especially during chemo and radiation). For me it didn’t get any better until after surgery.

2 months agoMy esophageal cancer is also stage 4, got lucky with immune and chemotherapy, Oxaliplatin and Opdivo kicked it in the ass. So it shrunk up, still have issues with some foods, smoothies are a God send on bad days. Will probably end up getting it stretched this October when they look to see how it is doing. Banana, apple, cinnamon and ice cream, honey for energy and bit of sweetness. Blend till it's smooth and away it goes.
