I am 2 years out from small cell lung cancer, latest PET scan showed no cancer at this time. My question is are any of you experiencing side effects from your cancer/treatments. I have edema, my body aches most days, I have issues with my legs and walking. None of my docs have any answers for me, I am so depressed over all this. I may be in remission but the side effects are upsetting to me. Any suggestions, help with my issues.

Long-term side effects like edema, body aches, and mobility challenges can unfortunately persist years after cancer treatment, and it's completely understandable to feel frustrated when doctors don't have clear answers. Many cancer survivors in this community have shared similar experiences with ongoing physical symptoms that impact daily life, so you're definitely not alone in facing these challenges. Consider connecting with other survivors here who might have found helpful strategies for managing these types of post-treatment effects, and don't hesitate to advocate for referrals to specialists like physical therapists or oncology rehabilitation programs that focus specifically on long-term survivorship care.

Maryann, I am having the same issues. I felt better before I was diagnosed. My oncologist said to start walking. Tough to do when your knees hurt. I feel like they got us into remission. Now, we are left to deal with all of the side effects.

I’ve been told and have read that inflammation from past treatment and now post treatment medications like Letrozole can be causing a lot of my joint pain. I just purchased a red light therapy mat from Nuvio. Have only used it twice (received three days ago) so a little early to tell, but hoping this will help with pain caused by inflammation. I’m also hoping for other benefits red light therapy shares. We will see! 😊 Anyone else using red light therapy? I have LG ovarian cancer btw.

I’ve been in remission for two years, but I am not well I went through three years of treatment. I even took an extra 12 months of immunotherapy just to make sure things would be OK but here I set so weak and fatigue. I can’t even do my daily chores. So I’ve been sitting at home for five years struggling I had COPD prior to lung cancer after treatment I got a life-threatening bacterial infection that colonized in my lungs and almost took me out after a month in the hospital. I felt fantastic for about a month but the damage the infection did to my bronchial tubes has left me unable to cough sputum up which keeps me constantly in infection, I’m not wanting to give up, but I’m not living. I’m just existing. I pray all the time that God will help me through this as he’s helped me through everything I am so embarrassed of my inability to do anything. Deep depression has definitely set in.

Go to physical therapy if you can. I'm still dealing with current cancer. 4th diagnosis in 2 years. Starting more chemo next week but staying active. I'm 76 years old

I’m fatigued more than I used to be, before breast cancer. I’ve been done with treatment for 4 years, on Exestane every night, and feel so drained. I moved to the country, and now have a little hobby farm. Having my goats, my ducks and my sheep Bring me alot of joy, but taking care of them can be pretty tiring. I was hoping having this little hobby farm would help me get stronger. 🤔🤷‍♀️

Ruth, I think you should find a helper to take care of your animals while you watch them from a bench under a tree!

Sherry McGrath I have been in treatment for Stage IV Non-small cell lung cancer since 2009, hundreds of tumors not able to be counted! I was 32 years old! I have been a cancer patient for 16 years! In 2013 it metastasized to my brain with 13 tumors(?) weird right? I lost all the movements of my left side of my body because I went to 3 different brain radiation machines! I am paralyzed and in pain since 2015. My issue don’t have a cure! My brain was burned and a hole necrose and my neurons don’t connect anymore. We know will not get better ever again. But I don’t give up! PT, OT, speech therapies, massages, chiropractor, ( that saved my life! In 2009), gym, walking my dog everyday during heavy chemo!! My story is amazing and I would like to help you all with my experiences in different hospitals around the middle west, Texas, etc. Very hard journey full of up and downs, miracles, adventures… I hope everyone feel better here! I am at Church now! God bless you all! ✨🙏🏻✨
