20 hours agoI have recurrent prostate cancer and my doctor has prescribed leuprolide as hormone therapy. From what I understand, this medication works by lowering testosterone levels to help control the cancer cells that depend on testosterone to grow. I'm preparing for possible side effects like hot flashes, fatigue, and decreased interest in sex. I'm also aware that long-term use might affect my heart and bones, so I'll need monitoring. I'd really appreciate hearing from others who have been through similar treatment. Your experiences and any practical tips would mean a lot to me. • What was your day-to-day experience like on hormone therapy for prostate cancer? • What advice do you wish someone had given you before starting this treatment?

19 hours agoHello Steve, I have had prostate cancer now for five years and I have been on leuprolide for hormones therapy too every six months a shot a long with another drug. I can’t think of the name of it right now, but it helps. Keep your bones strong and yes, you will have hot flashes. As far as fatigue. It doesn’t bother me, but you will lose interest in sex. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work anymore it still works it just that you lose interest in it, but you should be OK

15 hours agoI completely agree that hearing from others who've been on this journey can be incredibly valuable - you might also want to ask about timing of side effects, since some people find it helpful to know when certain effects typically start or peak.
