2 months agoNewly diagnosed with very high risk prostate cancer that now shows 1 two 3 pelvic lymph nodes infected. I have been on Xtandi since 1/30/25 and will get my first Lupron shot on February 19th and need to decide which radiation treatment to begin in a few months from now. I also need to decide between HDR or LDR brachytherapy. I thought I had a game plan but local doctors do not provide some of the options in my plan. I've also heard conflicting opinions on ideas that I've had. In general my plan is to have hormone therapy combined with radiation and brachytherapy I just need help in deciding which ones are the most effective.

2 months agoBoth HDR and LDR brachytherapy can be effective treatment options for high-risk prostate cancer, and the best choice often depends on individual factors that your radiation oncologist can help evaluate based on your specific situation. Consider seeking a second opinion from a comprehensive cancer center if your local options feel limited - many patients find it helpful to explore different medical teams and treatment approaches before making these important decisions.

2 months agoI was diagnosed with T3b, N1, M0, Gleason 9 prostate cancer 7 years ago. My doctor followed the protocol in the Stampede trial( Google it). I’m still <.1 PSA. I don’t share this because anything is guaranteed, but the evidence is good for following this approach.3 years of Lupron, with 2 years Zytiga, and 45 fractions of radiation were certainly a factor.

a month agoI have found that ADT Lupron and aberiterone worked well for me. 4/5 Gleason with lymph nodes and top of femur with cancer. Those are essentially gone. I am 2 years into this cocktail with a PSA drop from 27 to .01. I have not had prostate surgery radiation or chemo.

a month agoThat’s really good news, Robert! Your numbers are similar, though my PSA was 11.5. Radiation had some side effects that required additional treatment one year after finish, but all seems well now.
