a month agoNew on here! My urologist wants to treat my prostate cancer with radiation seeds and we haven’t even spoken to an Oncologist yet. Does this sound right?

a month agoWelcome to the community! It's completely understandable to want clarity on your treatment team before moving forward. Many patients benefit from getting input from multiple specialists, including oncologists who specialize in cancer treatment, to ensure they understand all their options. Consider asking your urologist about the treatment plan timeline and whether consulting with an oncologist or radiation oncologist might be helpful in your case. Other community members here have likely navigated similar decisions and may share their experiences with building their care teams.

a month agoI did Brachy therapy. There are two ways to do it. The way your guy said with seeds. They implant them and leave them there and in a few months they have done their work and become inert. I had the other where they insert the same kind of thing into your prostate but thread the radioactive threads in for a very brief period and then pull them back out. From what I understand pretty much the same outcomes and the same recovery. You are out for either process so you don’t feel anything. I had minor soreness for a couple days afterwards but that’s it.
