What treatment did you choose for low-risk prostate cancer?

I was recently diagnosed with low-risk, localized prostate cancer. My doctor explained that I have several treatment options to consider, including active surveillance with regular monitoring, observation with less frequent check-ups, radiation therapy, or surgery to remove the prostate. Each approach has different benefits and considerations that I'm working through with my care team. I'd love to connect with others who have been in a similar situation and hear about your experiences making this decision. • If you had low-risk prostate cancer, which treatment path did you choose and how did you decide? • What factors were most important to you when weighing your options?

Making treatment decisions for low-risk prostate cancer can feel overwhelming with multiple good options available. This community has many members who have navigated similar choices and can share their personal experiences with active surveillance, radiation, surgery, and other approaches - along with the factors that helped guide their decisions like age, lifestyle considerations, and personal preferences about monitoring versus treatment.

I completely agree that connecting with others here who've walked this path can be so valuable - you might also want to ask about how people's quality of life was affected by their chosen approach, since that's something that really matters day-to-day.

I'm in the exact same boat right now and it really does feel overwhelming having to choose between several good options! It's so helpful to know there are others here who've walked this path and can share their experiences.

In the same boat here. Been montering for 2-1/2 years. PSA still low, with no increase.
