What's it like taking Erleada and tamsulosin together?

a month agoI'm currently taking Erleada (apalutamide) plus tamsulosin for my prostate cancer. My doctor explained that Erleada works by blocking testosterone from fueling cancer cell growth, while tamsulosin helps with urinary symptoms. I've been told both medications can cause dizziness or blood pressure changes, so I'm being careful about getting up slowly from sitting or lying down. I'd love to hear from others who have been on a similar treatment plan and learn about your experiences. • What has your day-to-day been like on this combination, and what helped you manage any side effects? • What do you wish you had known when you first started this treatment?

21 days agoThe testosterone blocker will reduce or eliminate your sex drive and cause reduction of muscle and bone mass. But it works (for a while) at slowing the progression of cancer spread. I haven't had an erection in over 2 years. But the cancer is currently undetectable. Go for walks every day. I try to get at least 5000 steps in every day. And increase protein intake to 30 or 40 grams per meal, you will need it. The psychological side is the hardest part. If you have a good partner it helps immeasurably.
