a month agoYesterday, I got to ring the bell marking completion of an 8 week daily radiation plan. I saw few side effects (some fatigue towards the end and occasional GI issues) but overall I did well. Also, taking Orgovyx for 6 mos. The hot flashes are the biggest side effect there. I am 61yo (active, healthy)diagnosed in Nov 2019 with low grade (3 + 4) psa .9 and went ahead with surgery the following year. After about 3 mos post surgery, no issues (ie. Leakag e, etc) whatsoever. I went for 5 yrs with undetectable PSA and in 2025, PSA started to rise to .02. Scans showed that it had not spread but was still contained within the prostate. At the advice of my medical team, I went ahead with treatment (radiation + testosterone blocker) to get rid of this once and for all. No looking back or regrets. It was the best decision for me. Wishing everyone going thru the same here the very best. Read but read carefully. Listen but listen carefully. And ultimately, make the best decisions for you, and be happy with that decision. No regrets.

Congratulations on completing your radiation treatment - ringing that bell is such an important milestone! After radiation, many people continue to see gradual improvements in side effects over the coming weeks and months, though recovery experiences can vary from person to person. Your positive approach and thoughtful advice about careful research and decision-making will surely help others navigating similar paths in their prostate cancer journey.

a month agoI completely agree - ringing that bell is such a huge accomplishment, and you might also want to ask your team about what follow-up schedule to expect since everyone's monitoring plan can be a bit different after radiation.
