5 months agoMy urologist, after some serious discussion two days ago prescribed finasteride for me, as my prostate is extremely enlarged. He says it may reduce the size of my prostate significantly, but I need to be on it for about 3 months to begin to see results. Say it will improve urine flow as well. My PSA dropped from 18 to 14. Am willing to give it a shot. I also have prostate cancer, Gleason score 6. On active surveillance at the moment. PSMA pet scan showed cancer had NOT spread anywhere outside the prostate. Have scheduled a psa, a prostate mri in January, and an appointment with my urologist. Hoping for the best. .

5 months agoI have to watch diet anyway, as I am also battling diabetes, high BP, and cholesterol as well. I am a fishing addict, love walking riverbank, creeks and pond shores. When fishing is not being done, gardening takes up the slack, so exercise is seemingly always on the agenda squeezed in along with my job

4 months agoHi Rudy. My diagnosis was very similar to yours. G-6 still confined to just the prostate. My Urologist said my prostate is three times the size it should be. Many night time trips to the John. I was on active surveillance for about two years. After my second biopsy showed the cancer growing, my Urologist recommended a genealogy test. This created a Decipher score. My score came back at .59. This meant that treatment will be necessary at some point. I decided on a prostatectomy. Why wait for it to spread beyond the prostate. Kill two birds with one stone. Get the cancer out of my body and a huge prostate. My surgery was on 7/22/25. Recovery is going well. Waiting on my pathology report. Good luck. Donβt wait TOO long to treat it.
