20 days agoThat response from your doctor sounds incredibly dismissive and unhelpful, especially when you're trying to be proactive about your health. Many people find it frustrating when medical recommendations change over time, and it's completely reasonable to want updated PSA testing given the evolving guidelines around prostate cancer screening. Consider seeking a second opinion from another healthcare provider who might be more willing to discuss your concerns and explain current testing recommendations based on your individual risk factors and age.

18 days agoTimothy—My PCa misadventure is similar to yours. The NCCN terminating screening at age 70 and reinstating screening this year corresponds to my age 70 to 73, when I developed cancer, which went undetected for three years, resulting in my having 2 to 7 years to live. And during those 3 years my PSA jumped from 3.62 to 9.10, with my doctors (a different one each year) saying nothing about it to me, and doing nothing as well. And unlike James above, I’m not doing great, as my belated EBRT and ADT have caused an unrelenting 2-year string of adverse urinary, bowel, and sexual effects.

18 days agoTimothy, I am a 76 yr old male. I was fortunate and blessed by the Lord with a great medical team. I have pt3a gleason score of 5+4= 9 high aggressive prostate cancer diagnosed in 2019. I elected prostatectomy. After 3 years of 0 psa test results. My psa doubled and my oncologist ordered para pet scan which was negative. Salvage therapy was performed on my prostate bed. I am currently on combination therapy xtandi and eligard. My psa for the last 3 yrs is -0.01. The theme is new treatments are introduced every year. By the grace of God, prostate cancer is not necessarily a death sentence when blessed with a dedicated medical team. My prayers are with you.

11 days agoGet a new doctor immediately. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the end of December and my PSA was 1503. I started chemo treatments in April and had my 4 treatment today and my PSA is now 77. Praise the Lord
