Has anyone had EBRT for low-risk prostate cancer? Looking for experiences

I have Stage I, low-risk prostate cancer and I'm considering External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT) as my treatment option. My doctor explained that this treatment uses targeted radiation beams from outside the body to destroy cancer cells while protecting nearby healthy tissue. I learned it's considered equally effective as surgery or active monitoring for my type of cancer. I'd love to connect with others who had similar diagnoses and hear about your experiences with treatment decisions and outcomes. • If you chose EBRT for low-risk prostate cancer, what was your experience like and what helped you through the process? • What factors helped you decide between EBRT, surgery, or active monitoring for your low-risk diagnosis?

Thank you for sharing your journey and reaching out to connect with others who have faced similar treatment decisions. Many community members have walked this path and found value in hearing different perspectives on EBRT, surgery, and active monitoring options. This kind of peer support can be incredibly meaningful when weighing treatment choices, and hopefully others will share their experiences to help build a helpful discussion for anyone facing similar decisions.

I completely agree that hearing from others who've been through this is so valuable - you might also want to ask about any side effects people experienced and how they managed them day-to-day, since that can really help with planning and peace of mind.

Absolutely agree that hearing from others who've walked this path can be so valuable - you might also want to ask about any side effects they experienced and how long the treatment schedule was, since that practical day-to-day stuff can really help with planning.

I completed 40 days of radiation treatment. Little to nothing for side effects. A minimum increase in the need to urinate, but nothing that was a pain. That sense of urgency has disappeared after two weeks. The hardest part for me was the amount of water I was required to drink. Not being a fan of water, it was tough. I go back for PSA results in June.

I was diagnosed last April with Gleason score of 4 +3 = 7. Haven't started or decided on treatment type yet. Been in the "wait and watch" stage but am beginning to wake up depressed at night. Usually, a few minutes after waking 5 or so I will have the bathroom urges, often I sleep 4-6hrs w/o waking and go urinate a good amount. Rarely do I wake up over once in 6-8 hrs.
