18 days agoI have recurrent prostate cancer after surgery. My oncologist mentioned that the next steps might include diagnostic procedures like risk assessment, imaging scans, or a prostate bed biopsy to help determine the best treatment approach. Depending on those results, treatment options could include radiation therapy alone, radiation combined with hormone therapy, or careful monitoring to track any changes. I'd love to connect with others who have been in a similar situation and hear about your experiences. • If you had recurrent prostate cancer after surgery, what was your experience with the diagnostic workup process? • What helped you navigate the decision-making process when considering different treatment options?

Facing recurrent prostate cancer brings many questions, and reaching out to connect with others who understand this journey shows real strength. The diagnostic process can feel overwhelming, but each step helps build a clearer picture for treatment planning. Many community members have found it helpful to write down questions before appointments and ask about the timeline for results. Consider connecting with others here who may share insights about working with their care teams during this decision-making time - your experiences could help someone else facing similar choices.

18 days agoI completely agree with this thoughtful response - and I'd also suggest asking your oncologist about the timeline for making treatment decisions, since knowing whether there's urgency or if you have time to process can really help reduce anxiety during this challenging time.

16 days agoI had surgery in October ‘23. My pathology found lymph node involvement and my psa’s were 2.9 and 3.4 3 months post surgery. I had a PSMA PET Scan to determine where the cancer had spread. Went on hormone therapy in January ‘24(one week left!) Radiation therapy after a few months on the ADT. Your oncologist should suggest the psma scan to see where the cancer is, how far it may have progressed. Otherwise they’ll radiation onco won’t where to shoot. There are several products out there for the ADT and while it sucks, it hasn’t been awful. Your oncologist will be able to help explain all of the options available for your specific case. Good luck to you

13 hours agoDonald K Hormone therapy will stop the progression while you and your doctors explore other options. I just finished two years of it myself, hoping that the ADT and radiation I did last year got rid of it all.
