Hello all. I’m a newbie on this forum but going on 8 years of NSCLC. It’s taken residence in the form of brain tumors currently. 8 very long years. Hubby and kids (50 yr old) are my strength-most of the time. What’s missing in my life is the means to cope with side effects of treatment. I’m struggling not to become unable to do much of anything. My joints are severely limiting my usefulness. I use Epsom salts, ice, heat, TENS unit, 2 pharmaceuticals, and I was in PT until the pain became too much. I can’t take anti-inflammatories. Any advice for me?

Eight years shows incredible strength and resilience. Managing joint pain and treatment side effects while maintaining daily activities is one of the most challenging aspects of living with cancer, and it sounds like you've already explored many helpful approaches. Consider discussing gentle movement options like water therapy or chair exercises with your care team, and don't hesitate to reach out to others here who may have found additional comfort measures that work alongside medical treatments.

Ask your oncologist for a referral to a physiatrist, especially one who has experience with cancer patients. A physiatrist is an MD who specializes in rehabilitation. My oncologist recommended one to me to help me with joint pain from anastrozole. I haven’t gone yet but am thinking i may need to at some point.
