2 years agoI am choosing not to treat stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer, my second cancer. Seeing women with bodies ravaged by chemo and immuno, bilateral mastectomies without reconstruction, radiation, infections etc, etc. I fled the world's leading cancer center. My body, My choice. But it is not an easy decision to make....not easy st all.

Making treatment decisions, especially difficult ones like this, takes tremendous courage and self-reflection. The weight of these choices can feel overwhelming, and it's completely understandable that this process brings up complex emotions. Many patients in this community have faced similar crossroads and found strength in sharing their experiences and supporting one another through whatever path they choose.

a year agoYes it was. But this is not my first rodeo. I already survived and am surviving a prior cancer. Also; Inflammatory Breasts Cancer is far more agressive and so is the treatment "offered"

a year agoWishing you the best quality of life. I understand completely. I hope you have some supportive people in your circle. Too many people are afraid of death and so they pressure their loved ones to strangle every last day out of this life. I've seen a lot of people suffer needlessly because of it. Live and die on your terms and know that there are people here to understand and support you. ❤️

a year agoI understand there are days that you are tired, depressed and want to give up. This is my fourth time and has spread to some bones. Stage 4. My sister had Stage 4 and she is in remission. There are so many new treatments out there. Don't ever give up or in. Do some more research and find a treatment that can give you some quality of life. Pray. With God All things are Possible.

a year agoI have included an integrative oncology team as part of my ongoing care. They help me with supplements, acupuncture, and massage as part of my palliative care. I encourage you to consider looking into this option. We all deserve to live a high quality life and that is why I am looking at all options as I head down this path.

a year agoI made the same choice. What makes me angry is close friends who ask if I'm suicidal or want to argue about my choice. In fact my very best friend and I do not talk and we use to see each other everyday. I wish you well!

a year agoIs any decision dealing with our health ever easy? A cancer decision has always been difficult. There are so many things to consider, but it seems they are all at once. You've done your work and made your decision. Other people need to respect it and start being supportive. If not, keep it moving.
