Hello, my name is Heather. My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer, and we are waiting on test results. This limbo is killing me. I feel like a bomb is ticking in our lives, and there's nothing I can do about it.

This waiting period feels overwhelming, and those feelings of uncertainty are completely valid when facing such significant test results. Many people in this community understand how difficult it can be to feel like life is on hold while waiting for answers that will shape the path forward. Consider reaching out to others here who have walked similar journeys - their support and shared experiences can provide comfort during this challenging time.

Hi Heather, my wife and I went through the same this while waiting for my results which were confirmed for cancer. Just be supportive of your husband while waiting as you have been and navigate negative news (hopefully not) one day at a time. Like I was told, the journey is not a sprint - it's a marathon without a finish line. The mental is sometimes more challenging than the physical. Best wishes moving forward.

Thank you so much for answering me. I have felt so awful. We are having a hard time even getting a biopsy for him from the Veterans Administration. I feel like I'm going to go insane. Thank you for reaching out. It may seem like a simple gesture, but it means the world.

Hi Heather, I too was diagnosed at the VA so I'm very familiar with the ups and downs with that healthcare system. If there is no biopsy availability in a VA location, they can refer your husband to a "community clinic" (only in name, not a clinic per se) for the appointment. I chose this option which was performed by a reputable healthcare system and reputable Urologist. They were able to get me in faster than at the brick-n-motar VA facility. Your husband should certainly press the VA for the earliest appointment which can be at the "community clinic" option. Wishing you the best.

I know exactly How you feel, i had symptoms for over 2 yrs, before I got a diagnosis. Be a squeaky wheel & fight for your health. I learned the hard way, by the time I was actually diagnosed I was stage III ENDOMETRIAL CANCER, was in treatment & 7 months later im in Stage IV. Now on Lenvima & Keytruda. Never give up. I wasn't A veteran, but the medical Dr's still failed me.

You have to be your own advocate as the doctors have so many patients to track. I was recently diagnosed and confirmed with cancer in the lingual tonsil (throat cancer). My wife has been a great support and has been by my side for every appointment to include speech therapy and dietician in addition to both Oncologists.

Hi, my husband was diagnosed with metastatic cancer 2 months ago. I have had to navigate everything for him. I have spent hours and days on the phone trying to get him seen. And now he's had scans, tests, biopsies. The tumors have doubled in size. Now he can barely walk and always in pain. I know how you feel when I just want him to get treated and be out of pain. It is so hard to watch and no one else see the urgency
