I just had to have a complete hysterectomy. I don’t think my family understands how hard that was.

Having a hysterectomy is a significant surgery that can bring both physical and emotional challenges, and feeling misunderstood by loved ones during recovery can make the experience even more difficult. Many people in this community have faced similar situations where family members may not fully grasp the impact of major medical procedures, and connecting with others who understand these experiences can provide valuable support and comfort.

It is hard to be a Mom and a patient. Almost impossible I’ve found. I’ve been disappointed in the lack of empathy by 17 year old has shown so far but I think he’s just scared. Same for my husband. 🤷‍♀️ My cancer center has an in person support group that has been amazing for support. Not sure if something like that is available to you?

I appreciate the perspective that they are just scared. That actually makes sense to me. It’s really scary the things we feel that we have taught our kids and then a major health crisis comes up and it seems like they don’t care or are so nonchalant, because I know we don’t show them, but that is the way to deal, but when it comes from a perspective of really being scared that makes more sense. One of my children even said that they disassociate when we are really sick my husband had triple bypass on May 15 this year and then I have my breast cancer removed on May 25 and just started chemo at the end of June. Making it a great there is a safe spot to discuss those types of things to help each other through. I’m sorry that you’ve had to go there so long and felt that way and hopefully the support time does great can help to provide the right words and encouragement and support to help you get through.
