Has anyone had success with Cabozantinib for stage 4 kidney cancer?

Sam, I started on 40 mg Cabozantinib & 28 day cycle of Nivolumab for NCCRCC. Due to several serious side effects the Nivo had to be stopped & Cabo reduced to 20 mg. Most of the issues were connected to the Nivo and I tolerate the reduced Cabo well. First scan , while I was on both drugs, showed significant reduction of tumor & affected lymph nodes. Next scan is tomorrow while on 20 mg Cabo only. I actually feel pretty good , though various degrees of fatigue are always present. One side observation is patients with more side effects seem to have better response rates. Cabo can be a first or second line of treatment with promising results. Good Luck.

I am in the middle of four rounds Cabozantinib and Nivolumab. Each round is 3 weeks apart. So far the most serious side effect is hives.

I’ve had Cabo it did good in terms of stopping stopping tumor growth for about a year. Side effects , especially BP elevation was kind of tough and but tolerable.

Thank you Ari and Obie. I started on Cabo 60 mg fr about a month and a half and I think I had all sorts of side effects. At the end I had some sores on my right foot, high blood pressure that was difficult to control, rashes on my scalp and face. It was a bit tough not going to lie. So Dr just gave me a two week break and just resumed to a lower dose 40mg. Will see how it goes for now. My scans are in October and hopefully I get some good news. I don’t mind the troubling side effects as long as it works. I still continue to have a full time job and the only thing that is hard about work is getting up in the mornings. Once I do, I can operate normal. There is only one course of action to take at this point and that is to continue as hard and as strong as I possibly can. Life gave me lemons so I’ll have to learn how to make lemonade.

I have had 2 rounds of the same infusion. It sure zaps my energy for about a week.
