What's the healing process like after partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer?

My surgery is scheduled for October 6. Did they do a biopsy? How do you know it's clear cell? I was told they won't know the type of cancer until it comes back from pathology ... After they do surgery.

Hi Amanda, I just went through the same procedure on January 29th of this year. I was also diagnosed with grade 2 clear cell carcinoma. My pain levels was about 7% i only needed pain medication for about a day being at home. I'm healing pretty good for going on my 3rd week post op. I hope all is well. Do you have to go back for a 6 month MRI? I have to to make sure didn't come back.
