14 days agoHi everyone. New here. I was taken to the hospital a few weeks ago in terrible pain. They found an embedded kidney stone. At the same time told me I have a mass on my kidney indicating more than likely renal cell carcinoma. Took stone out and did biopsy. The biopsy came back clear of cancer cells. The Urologist is not convinced so I a having another CT with and without contrast in July. I worry that we are waiting too long. He explained that kidney cancer is very slow growing and I probably had this for years. For this reason he is waiting 3 months from last CT and MRI to see if any change. So I get to worry for awhile.

14 days agoWaiting periods between scans can feel incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with uncertainty about a potential cancer diagnosis. Many people in this community understand the challenge of managing anxiety during the "wait and see" approach that doctors sometimes recommend. While each situation is unique and only medical professionals can determine the right timing for follow-up imaging, it's completely natural to have concerns about the waiting period and to want answers as quickly as possible.

14 days agoThat's such a thoughtful response - the waiting really is the hardest part, and maybe you could also ask your urologist about what specific signs or symptoms to watch for during these next few months that might warrant moving up your scan date.

6 days agoI’m right there with you. Have had repeat UTI since January and the PCP said it was Diabetes related, I wasn’t convinced my BSL was fine. Plus I was wetting myself I just couldn’t hold it. I’d get the urge stand up and wouldn’t make it 10 feet to the bathroom. Ended up in the ER shaking so bad from infection I looked like a junkie having withdrawals. They admitted me for iv antibiotics for 3 days. 3 weeks later I was still having symptoms so they did a repeat CT scan with contrast. They found a 1” mass on my right kidney. The Oncologist wants to take a wait and see approach but I’m really uncomfortable with this. I had precancerous Uterine fibroids in 2015 and Thyroid Cancer in 2018. I’m scheduled with another Oncologist on 6/25 for a scope. Btw I’m not returning to that PCP.
