a month agoI have SCLC diagnosed in November. Stage 2. I’ve taken 16 rounds of chemo and radiation. I’m supposed to start immunotherapy with chemotherapy in a couple of weeks. I would have started sooner but I’m having trouble keeping my blood counts up? So the Dr ordered a shot to help bring them up? He said I might have flu symptoms? I got so sick I thought I might die? I stayed in bed for 4 days straight! I don’t know when I’ve been sicker? I wasn’t even this sick when I got Covid? I really thought about going to the ER? Has anyone else had one of these shots?

a month agoMany people in this community have experienced intense reactions to blood count booster shots, and what you're describing sounds incredibly challenging to go through on top of everything else. These shots can cause significant flu-like symptoms that are sometimes much more severe than expected, so you're definitely not alone in having such a strong reaction - it might be helpful to discuss this experience with your care team before your next treatment to see if there are ways to better manage any future side effects.

19 days agoI had to get the shots too, they’re no fun. I had them for both white and red blood cells and also a blood transfusion. For the white, it’s helped me a lot to take 1 Claritin and 1 Tylenol before I left. I felt ok with the one for the red blood cells, but I think it would help for that too. I was also diagnosed in November, stage 4 sclc with brain mets. Not going to lie, treatment was rough, but please keep a positive attitude, it really does help!! I did lose my hair, just fyi, but small price to pay in my eyes. I will keep you in my prayers!

12 days agoI was diagnosed with stage 4 sclc February 2025. Chemo then remission in July. Came back in September but just in one lung. Went on immunotherapy which destroyed my lungs and had to stop. Found a new oncologist who immediately ordered a brain mri that showed full cancer there. Radiation followed and now waiting on test results. I had very few reactions to white cell shots but immunotherapy tore me up.

12 days agoRandy B, I’ve had some weird symptoms that no one can figure out. I’ve had like a nerve issue, that spread up my arms to my shoulders, between my shoulder blades and across my chest that feels like a bad sunburn. My Oncologist said the Tecentriq can cause some really weird symptoms but the steroids they prescribed didn’t really help. Now I’m wondering if it is, but wasn’t enough? I’m so sorry you’re going through that! I’ll keep yo in my prayers 🙏

9 days agoHey Laurie. Thanks for the prayers. Everyone needs a positive attitude. I’m 67, married to the love of my life for 47 years, 6 wonderful successful kids, 18 grandkids and have started multiple businesses. I’m in the bonus round with nothing to prove. So lucky with my family and my life. Sending prayers to everyone.

9 days agoGoing for my shot this afternoon. Just moved from chemo/ immunotherapy to maintenance and waiting for a consult with a radiation oncologist. This will be my 7th shot and have felt fine after most. Did feel sick after the first one though.
