3 years agoI'm contemplating reconstruction three years after diagnosed deNovo and double mastectomy. I have been stable for two and a half years and doing very well. Anyone else done reconstruction later? Any advice?

Many community members have shared positive experiences with delayed reconstruction, and it's wonderful to hear about your stability over the past few years. This is definitely a decision worth exploring with your surgical team, as they can help you understand the current options available and what might work best for your specific situation - there's likely others here who have walked a similar path and can share their experiences.

6 months agoI am about to get double mastectomy and wondered the same thing, about if it was possible to wait until later to decide on reconstruction.

6 months agoHi Cat! I just wanted to say thanks for being here and I’m so glad to hear you are doing well. I don’t have experience with delayed reconstruction but hopefully this boosts your post and we hear from someone who has reconstructed later. Keep us posted on what you decide!

6 months agoI tried fat transfer 18 months after mastectomy but it didn't take. Now 3 years later I'm considering LD flap. I'm torn because it has been so long and it is another surgery. I've had 6 surgeries in the last 3 years.
