3 years agoFor anyone being given the option of a lumpectomy vs a mastectomy please listen to my experience. I was told a lumpectomy would be enough but I never want to deal with this crap again and chose a mastectomy. Well they found a tumor in my good boob that did not show up on a mammogram! Thank God I made the right choice. I don’t think this “suprise” is as uncommon as they tell you.

What a relief that the additional screening during your procedure led to finding something that might have been missed otherwise. Many patients in this community have shared similar experiences about unexpected findings during surgery, and your story highlights how thorough surgical evaluation can sometimes reveal important information that imaging doesn't always catch. Thank you for sharing this experience with others who may be facing similar treatment decisions.
