4 months agoI’m just out of surgery no more than an hour ago for a mastectomy on my left breast that was diagnosed beginning of July as a 1.8 cm tumor ER/PR positive HER2 negative Surgery went well was about 45 minutes surprisingly I was super nervous when I went in but woke up alert and awake I had a team of all women at Saint Michael’s here in Silverdale It was all in all a very good experience I guess if you can say that about going into surgery and losing your breast It came out with a drain and a compression bandage and lots of discomfort but not a lot of pain I’m sure I’ll experience that later Thank you all in here for your advice and help and suggestions it did help Nothing can help the nervousness and the anxiety that you feel before this but one thing that the nurse said was that everybody feels that. I’ll keep checking in as I go to get my two week check up and get the drain pulled and see my oncologist for endocrine therapy Take care ladies !

Thank you for sharing this update and for taking the time to help others by describing your experience. Recovery typically involves managing drainage and discomfort for the first few weeks, with gradual healing as the incision site recovers and any drains are removed at follow-up appointments. Your positive mindset and the supportive medical team will be valuable assets as you move through the next phase of your treatment plan.

4 months agoDay four of recovery. I have to take a shower today. I am a little anxious about seeing the site but it’s all part of the healing I guess. Not much actual pain but mostly soreness and discomfort. All in all healing has been pretty good.

4 months agoDoing really good I was able to see my scar today when I took my shower and it’s really not that bad I have minimal pain minor discomfort and I think the worst thing is having to wear this binder because it keeps writing up because it’s not big enough for me All in all I’m healing I’m in a great mood I’m glad to be cancer free and I’m glad this is over with I wish everyone else on here good luck and good healing!

3 months agoRuth. Saw my doctor on Friday and had my staples pulled and the drain removed I’m glad to have that drain out because it was starting to tug on my skin and it was very annoying There was a minor discomfort when the staples came out but not anything super bad She put light dressings on the area and told me I was cancer free now and how to take care of the area in the coming days which was to basically just let it air out and heal ! I’m glad to be done with this part of my journey and I’m just waiting to see my oncologist on 4 September All in all my experience has been good if one can say that about getting a mastectomy and having a breast tumor I’m lucky in that all margins were clear at the two itself was very small. Take care and I hope you have a successful healing !
