a year agoI had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removed. The area where the sentinel node was removed hurts more than where the lumpectomy was done. Is this common?
Accepted Answer
Pain at the sentinel node removal site is often reported as being more noticeable than lumpectomy pain, and many patients experience this difference in their recovery. This variation in discomfort levels between surgical sites is something worth discussing with your surgical team, as they can provide personalized guidance on what to expect during your healing process and when to reach out if concerns arise.

6 months agoSame here sugery was done on Nov 19th. The pain was like a carpet burn under the skin. It has gotten better though. I can say now the node pain has subsided and the actual lumpectomy site is quite tender now.

6 months agoSheila, I had a unilateral mastectomy and 2 sentinel nodes removed. It does hurt is like the area is sore. Just try to rest and keep your arm low and don’t carry anything. For me in 2 weeks I was ok! Good luck
