8 months agoWhat is a dog ear after LD flap under the arm
Accepted Answer
A dog ear after latissimus dorsi (LD) flap breast reconstruction refers to a small fold or pucker of excess skin that can form at the closure site, often appearing near the underarm area where the incision was made. This is a fairly common occurrence after this type of reconstruction surgery and typically happens when there's a slight mismatch in skin length during the closure process. Many plastic surgeons can address dog ears with a minor revision procedure if they don't smooth out naturally during the healing process, so discussing this with your surgical team can help determine the best approach for your specific situation.

7 months agoIt is pointy tissue that does not lay flat after surgery. It is usually permanent. My surgery was a few years ago and the are still there in the sides right under the breats and right under the bra line. You can see it in certain shirts. It bothered me a lot at first, now they are just part of me and I don't care.
