Hi my name is Adriana, diagnosed with endometrial cancer has a hysterectomy surgery 4 weeks ago and today I have radiology consultation. I’m afraid of doing these treatments because of side effects, has anyone radiation treatment that can help me making this decision?

It's completely understandable to feel anxious about radiation treatment and want to learn from others who've been through this experience. Many community members have shared their radiation journeys here, and connecting with them could provide valuable insights about what to expect. Consider preparing a list of questions about side effects and recovery for your consultation today - this can help you have a more informed discussion with your medical team about what's right for your specific situation.

I've had radiation out of all treatments. I think radiation is the easiest one. Chemo and targeted chemo pills are very harsh on the body. Radiation tends to cause fatigue and nausea depending on the area you may have burns. They treat the area with ointment and it heals

Radiation was really the easiest part for me. I had a little superficial burning that I had some cream to put on and that was about it.

I have endometrial carcinoma, had surgery 1 week later, robot assisted total hysterectomy. There were some malignant cells in my pelvic fluid before they took anything out. I am 62, and the percentage of the tumor was 60% invading the muscle of my uterus, they want 50% or less. I had 5 weeks of radiation, 25 treatments and it all went fine. Had some diarrhea but not bad. I have a bit of urinary urgency but it's been 18 months and I go to my oncologist for a vaginal and rectal check every 3 months for 2 years, then every 6 months for five years then yearly. I was so scared of radiation and googling about it made it sound horrible. It didn't hurt at all. Best wishes and if you need radiation get it. I had a 60% or more chance of recurrence. Now I only have 2% of another Cancer because of radiation but those odds are better with the radiation.
