2 years agoI had a double mastectomy back in June of last year and since then I’ve been through three more surgeries of reconstruction had implants finally put in and one of them up in my shoulder blade and the other one is saggy the doctor or surgeon knew this as I was coming out of surgery I was in the hospital for five days because the pain is excruciating and Only thing I’m told is the one that’s up in my shoulder blade will drop like a ball within three months, and then the other Breast, the one that saggy I was told has to have a lift. Is this normal for anybody else? Not to mention when I came out of surgery I was never put in a wrap the surgical bra, nothing any advice

Complications during breast reconstruction are unfortunately more common than many people realize, and what you're experiencing sounds incredibly challenging both physically and emotionally. Many members of this community have shared similar experiences with implant positioning issues, unexpected pain levels, and feeling unprepared for the recovery process. The situation you're describing with needing additional procedures and extended healing time happens to other patients too, though that doesn't make it any less frustrating for you right now. Consider reaching out to your surgical team with specific questions about your recovery timeline and post-surgical care protocols, and know that this community is here to support you through this difficult journey.

6 months agoAfter the double mastectomy in June, I had spacers put in and 5 1/2 months later after they are expanders and 5 1/2 months after the expanders were put in and I was to my max size of 650 the breast that had the cancer originally got infection and swelled up overnight and I had to be hospitalized and that was exactly 7 days before my implants were supposed to be put in and that was a day before Thanksgiving then they told me I had to wait three more months with one expander still put in which is and then the other breast that they took the expander out due to the infection went without an expander for three months 90 days and then that’s when they put my implants in and now I have two significantly different size breast, and one of my implants is up in my shoulder, and it hurts really bad and my other breast sags

6 months agoI would recommend getting them out. I wish I was strong and knowledgeable enough to go without implant.

6 months agoMarshel J. If you haven't done so already I would get a second opinion. And of possible is there a hospital or clinic that specializes in breast cancer reconstruction?
