7 months agoSo, I had a lumpectomy 2 weeks ago Tuesday. This morning I woke up and I always cover my incisions to keep the area from getting caught on stuff. We'll, gauze went and did a little un-taping at some point last night/morning and there was a little scab that was stuck to the tape. Now, I have a little hole where the scan was. It's clean and not oozing. I put another bandaid on it tonight before I put fresh gauze back on it (change gauze in am and before I go to bed). Is this something I should be concerned about or just make sure to keep it clean.

It's completely understandable to feel concerned about any changes to your surgical site during recovery. Small holes where scabs have come off can be a normal part of the healing process, but this is definitely something worth checking with your surgical team about, especially since you're only two weeks post-surgery. Keeping the area clean and covered as you're doing is important, and your healthcare provider can give you the best guidance on whether this needs any specific attention or monitoring.

7 months agoJust make sure you keep It clean, they glued my Incision so I didn’t have to worry about it. How are you doing otherwise?

6 months agoJust make sure it doesn't get anything down in it and if that's what they want is to keep it covered then You stuck to the plan they have with your healing process!

6 months agoJust watch it. Signs of infection : redness & oozing, warm to touch area around site...keep clean & dry. See if u can reinforce 4x4 or get larger band aid to cover area. Call your Dr if u think its infected..good luck

6 months agoDid your Dr tell you to do that twice a day? My wife had a lumpectomy about 3 weeks ago. The plastic surgeon checked it after a week. She had the other breast reduced to try to match the one the cancer was removed from. They removed the elastic bandages, cleaned everything up and removed the drains. They removed some tape and retaped it. I asked if I should change any dressing and they said no. Just leave it, it's healing. If it becomes red, irritated or too itchy, call my office right away. Try to keep it dry. You can shower but don't face the shower. Let it hit your back. We see him again next week.
