2 years agoI will be traveling by either air or car to my surgeon who is 850 miles from my home. Those of you who have had a double mastectomy, at what point after surgery were you ready to either fly for 2 hours or take a long car ride( with frequent stops)?
Accepted Answer
Travel timing after double mastectomy varies for each person, and factors like healing progress, pain levels, and whether you have drains will influence when it feels comfortable to make that journey. Many community members have navigated similar decisions about post-surgery travel, so hopefully others will share their experiences to help guide your planning.

6 months agoThat is a good question for your doctors. If you have a nurse or social worker on your case I would ask there opinion too (they tend to be a little more realistc IMO). I use to work in a hospital and some patients had surgery with trips planned. Most doctors said around 10 days to 2 weeks. Everyone responds different to surgery too. Some need linger some don't. I would think key is get time behind you that your responding well to the surgery. A question I always had was how (or does ) flying affect your body ( like compression, blood flow, etc).
