9 months agoHey everybody just need to vent I am going in this Friday to finish my reconstruction from a mastectomy in May 2024 in June 2024 I had a lumpectomy so 8 months later we’re gonna do this ( 3 different types of cancer in left breast and nodes) had radiation but no chemo now I’m 80 percent sure I have lymphedema as well. I have now exhausted my medical benefits from my job and have absolutely zero income at this time can anyone tell me of resources that can help I have applied for ssdi but don’t know anything but here’s the kicker I went for a mammogram on Feb 5th 2025 and there is something on my right breast that I have to go for more testing on March 13th also my support system sucks they act as if I’m not supposed to speak of it and continue on doing all as if nothing has changed. It sucks to be me but I have to make changes myself. I don’t want to stay in a relationship with someone who has time for all other family and friends in his life but no time for me . Words of wisdom are needed guys

This sounds incredibly overwhelming to face so many challenges at once - the ongoing treatments, financial strain, and feeling unsupported by those closest to you. Many cancer patients find themselves in similar situations where their support system doesn't know how to respond appropriately, and it's completely understandable to feel frustrated when your needs aren't being met. For financial resources, consider reaching out to organizations like CancerCare, the American Cancer Society, or local hospital social workers who can help connect you with assistance programs - these professionals are often the best starting point for finding comprehensive support during treatment.

6 months agoTeresa, I'm so sorry you are going through such a painful situation. I suggest that as long as you are safe and not in an abusive situation you stay until you are able to go off on your own. You can emotionally distance yourself from the uncaring people. Concentrate on yourself and healing, that should leave little time for the losers in your life. Just fake it with that person and start preparing for your future.
