Will my taste come back after radiation for mouth and neck cancer?

Taste changes are a common side effect of radiation therapy for head and neck cancers, and many people experience recovery over time, though it can be a gradual process that varies from person to person. I have and unfortunately I am part of that percentage whose sense of taste has not returned. I am 16 months out from treatment now.

Hi Norma, I feel for you. I've read that some start experiencing semi normal taste within 1 -3 years. I pray you and I get it back sooner. I started taking Colostrum, which has properties to Boost the immune system and may help our taste buds to rejuvenate faster. All the Best, Gene

Hi, I had 35 treatments for throat cancer back in November/December, 7 months now. It does take some time to get your taste back, keeping a positive attitude means the world. Be strong for yourself, you’ve gone thru a battle. One thing that helped me I think was drinking apple cider, I love apple cider to start with, I just couldn’t get enough of. Also, feed what you are craving. Listen to your body. If you’re craving broccoli, apples, peaches, etc., your body is telling you something. 🥰 Hoping this helps you?
