I’m suffering with lymphedema in my breast after chemotherapy, breast reconstruction and radiation therapy. I’m going through rehab but it hasn’t helped and it’s extremely painful also. Any suggestions short of another surgery to remove scar tissue and build up of fluid???

Breast lymphedema can be incredibly challenging to manage, and it sounds like you're exploring all available options for relief. Many people in this community have found success with different combinations of manual lymphatic drainage, compression garments, pneumatic compression devices, and specialized physical therapy techniques beyond standard rehab. Consider discussing with your healthcare team whether a lymphedema specialist or certified lymphedema therapist might offer additional treatment approaches that could provide the relief you're seeking.

I had a bilateral mastectomy. Developed lymphedema in both arms, chest & back. I have gone for manual lymphatic drainage therapy for 2 years. Wear compression. Use a pump. Pain is relentless! Going to see a microsurgeon next month. Hopefully he can help

YES! There is a surgery that creates a shunt for lymphatic fluid in the chest and axillae. It is routinely done at MD Anderson and Dana Farber. It is called "Lymphatic shunt surgery." Go to your breast surgeon and demand evaluation for it!

I'm concerned about having deip flat reconstruction when my armpit is numb and the expander has not expanded much due to large tumor of over 7cm, so Dr had to close incision very taught. How can reconstruction heal.....
