Had a modified radical mastectomy right side in January of 1974. It devastated me as I was only 20. On March 13 after biopsies showed I had precancerous cells right and had a mastectomy left side pathology results are it had not turned to cancer. I am still in healing process waiting to start reconstructive surgery. First one I had a husband who never fully understood what I went thru and had the attitude of I dare you get sick. Second time I had the. Support of my family. They are a blessing.

Thank you for sharing this deeply personal journey spanning nearly five decades. The difference in support systems between these two experiences highlights how crucial understanding and compassionate family support can be during cancer treatment and recovery. Wishing you continued healing as you move forward with your reconstructive surgery plans, and hoping others in this community can find encouragement in your strength through both challenges.
