2 days agoMy husband had a tumor removed last week. It was in his groin, weighed over 10 pounds and was larger than his head! He had gone through 4 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy. With no success in shrinking it they decided to schedule surgery. With every attempt to increase his nutrition and for him to put some weight back on (he had lost 50 pounds in 2 months). After 2 months attempting to improve his blood levels and nutrition, they determined that everything they put in him was absorbed by the tumor ! The tumor had grown 400%. With the surgery date approaching, his health was deteriorating and threatening to cancel. He finally had the surgery. IT was 10 hours, very intense but at one week later, his blood levels have returned to normal and he is on the road to recovery. I just want to say anyone in this situation, do not postpone surgery. You will not get healthier and the tumor feeding off of you will grow, making the surgery riskier. Just do it! Don't waste your health with chemo. Good luck and God bless all of you. And thank you for all the good care at The City of Hope. .

2 days agoThank you for sharing this powerful experience and advocating for others facing similar treatment decisions. Each cancer journey is unique, and treatment timing decisions should always be made with the full medical team considering individual circumstances, tumor type, and overall health status. Your experience highlights how important it is for patients and caregivers to stay in close communication with their oncology team about all treatment options and timing. Wishing continued healing and recovery.
