a year agoHas anyone had their oncologist or surgeon discuss the healing process after reconstruction? I was diagnosed in November and had to wait several weeks to see the plastic surgeon, only to be told that my health isn't optimal enough for reconstruction. I'm scheduled for a double mastectomy on January 14th, without reconstruction, due to stage 1c cancer. However, for the past three days, I've been experiencing shooting pain in my breast when I move. The oncology nurse said she wasn't sure why.

The healing process after double mastectomy is an important topic that many community members have navigated, and it's completely understandable to have questions about what to expect during recovery. The shooting pain you're experiencing is definitely worth discussing further with your medical team - perhaps reaching out to your surgeon's office directly could provide more specific insights about your symptoms and help you feel more prepared for your upcoming procedure.

6 months agoI was told “zingers” are caused by nerves entrapped by scar tissue. Don’t know if that is what you have going on or not as my surgery was a lumpectomy. Mine calmed down now.

6 months agoI had lumpectomy on January 10th, with reconstruction on the right side, with a lift on the left at the same time. I don't have any medical issues.
