2 years agoI had a lumpectomy on 2/28/2024 for DCIS stage O. Also, had 16 radiation treatments which I finished a little over a month ago. Had a PET scan about a week ago, negative. My CEA is still elevated. Has anyone else experienced this?

Elevated CEA levels after breast cancer treatment can be concerning, and it's understandable to seek others who may have had similar experiences. While CEA can remain elevated for various reasons even after successful treatment, it's encouraging that your recent PET scan came back negative. Many community members have shared experiences with tumor markers fluctuating during and after treatment, so you're definitely not alone in navigating this uncertainty.

6 months agoHi LB just reading your situation. I also had lumpectomy 3 wks ago and going for my P/O visit tmrw. I had DCIS stage 0 as well and no hx of cancer . Came up on mammogram. All my margins were clear after surgery. Haven’t met with oncology yet but I know I will NOT do radiation as I have 2 coronary stents a watchma. Device in My heart And was in afib for 5 yrs Ans just had an ablation for that which cured that. I am a nurse and ( retired I’m 73 yrs old)my knowledge and research Ans also my cardiologist has told me radiation can do heart damage even 8-10 yrs down the road so I am taking my chances and not doing radiation or the estrogen blockers also due to the side effects. U have to educate yourself and get 2-3 opinions to make an informed decision of what is best for u. If my cancer reoccurres I may deal with more aggressive treatment then but hoping the surgery was sufficient. Good luck to u ….🙏🙏🙏
