2 years agoHas anyone had reconstructive surgery to make your unaffected breast match your lumpectomy/radiated breast? My breasts are drastically different since I have lost weight.
Accepted Answer
Many community members have shared experiences with reconstructive options after lumpectomy, and weight changes can definitely affect breast symmetry. This is a common concern that's worth discussing with a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast reconstruction, as they can explain the different approaches available to help achieve better balance between both sides.

6 months agoDid you have to pay for it? My lumpectomy was in 2013 … is it too late?

6 months agoWomen get reconstructive surgery (including the unaffected breast) and insurance is supposed to pay for it. When I get my lumpectomy done in my left breast, they are taking out my implants at the same time and doing a lift. Ib was told insurance will pay for all of it

6 months agoPaula L. It's hard to say about the insurance. So do you have the same insurance now that you did back in 2013? If so I would say contact them, or rather have your service provider contact them for the approval process of the reconstructive surgery. But even if you don't have that same insurance and you still need reconstructive surgery I would think it would be worth looking in to.

6 months agoIt was covered as part of the treatment cost and given its delayed reconstruction you should be able to get the costs claimed . If you are ready for it .. go for it

6 months agoJust had my lumpectomy and bilateral reduction 2 weeks ago (stage 1 IDC) My surgeon said it's a nice perk of insurance. I've tried for years to have it approved. I'm hoping it will be worth it all. I would suggest that you ask your insurance company.

6 months agoYes, in june 2021, my cancer breast is very deformed, and my non cancer breast is lopsided. I had surgeries on both breasts 3 times. I don't see any improvement. My insurance changed. Haven't looked into having a 4th try of surgery. I'm so disgusted.
