a year agoI have surgery coming up for a mastectomy on my right side I have ILC ER/PR+/Her2 -. My left side came back with something benign and nothing showing on the MRI. Negative for Gene. I am doing reconstructive surgery, I already have implants. I am 35. I was wondering if anyone similar out there did anything similar with just the one side and regretted not just doing both. I am not sure if I’m going to feel off.

This is such a personal and important decision that many people in similar situations face. The feelings about symmetry and balance are completely understandable, and it's wise to think through all the possibilities before surgery. Many community members have shared experiences with both single and bilateral mastectomies, and their perspectives on recovery, reconstruction, and how they felt afterward could be really valuable for your decision-making process. Consider discussing your concerns about feeling "off" with your surgical team, as they can help you weigh the medical factors alongside your personal preferences and quality of life considerations.

7 months agoI will have surgery on the13th of November. The surgeon is doing oncoplastic reconstructive surgery. I have big breasts and wanted both breasts to match. Insurance is paying for it so why not. I you feel your breasts will look different, then I would seriously consider doing the other breast.

7 months agoHi Kirsten, my name is sharon have the same thing that you have except it. It's a little different. I have invasive doctor carcinoma spread through my lymph nodes but nowhere else I'm ER PR positive and ER two negative. I am terrified of the chemo. Can you tell me something that would comfort me.

7 months agoI am all finnished with Chemo and for me it wasn’t that bad. The steroids you take help with the side effects! I had 6 Rounds of THCP and only missed 2 days of work over the weekend. After 6 rounds this last one was the worst, and just feel rather tired and a little queasy. I have double mastectomy in 2 weeks as long as my body is ready for the surgery. I was scared of chemo too, and it turned out not to be that bad, I have been able to keep up with my kids 5, 6 and 8 and only spent one weekend down between chemo treatments. Good luck to you!!!

7 months agoI am undergoing Chemotherapy and immunotherapy. I have completed the 8 rounds of carbo and taxol. Started the AC and I have one more tx to go. Side effect extreme fatigue for 2 days. Don’t be afraid, have a positive attitude. Report any symptoms to your oncology team they are the best. Avoid old wives tale from family and friends. Pray and go with your God given wisdom. Good luck
