Currently getting chemo for pancreatic cancer in the head against arteries. My surgeon said he could do surgery but would be more complicated, I do have faith in his abilities but not sure of success rate of the whipple procedure

This is such a challenging decision, and it's completely understandable to weigh all the options carefully when facing surgery versus continuing current treatment. Many people in this community have faced similar crossroads with complex procedures, and the uncertainty around success rates can feel overwhelming. Consider discussing specific statistics and outcomes with your medical team, and perhaps seeking a second opinion if that would help you feel more confident in whatever path you choose. Others here may have valuable insights to share about their own decision-making process during treatment.

Hopefully the chemo will shrink the tumor. Walk and get prepared for your surgery. Decide if you’re going to have open whipple or laparoscopic whipple. Is it pnet or pdac?

My Whipple was successful with similar issue (artery) get a 2nd opinion and do as much chemo as you can get b4 surgery….my CA-19 was down to 20 just before surgery and I believe it was the additional chemo…💜🙏🏻
