2 months agoI have HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer and surgery scheduled for January 12th. I just read about a study showing that some patients like me might be able to skip sentinel lymph node biopsy during surgery. The research looked at patients who were postmenopausal with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer and found that omitting the biopsy might be safe in certain cases. Since I match this profile, I'm planning to discuss this option with my surgical team. I'd love to hear from others who have been in a similar situation: • Did you have sentinel lymph node biopsy with your surgery, and how did that decision get made? • What questions did you ask your surgeon about lymph node evaluation options? 2 months agoThat's wonderful that you're staying informed about research developments and taking an active role in your treatment decisions. Discussing recent studies with your surgical team shows great self-advocacy, and they'll be able to help you understand how this research applies to your specific situation and staging. Many community members find it helpful to prepare a list of questions beforehand, including asking about the potential benefits and risks of different approaches, how lymph node status might affect future treatment planning, and what factors make someone a good candidate for omitting the biopsy. Hoping others here can share their experiences with the decision-making process around lymph node evaluation options.

2 months agoI had 8 lymph nodes removed, 3 of those were cancerous and 2 of those were sentinal nodes. These biopsies sealed the decision to have radiation treatment after chemo. The radiation oncologist indicated that chemo wasn’t as effective treating the nodes as radiation would be. I dont know if that helps, but in my position I dont know why anyone wouldnt want to have this done, esp during surgery

2 months agoI only had 2 sentinel nodes removed. I had a small invasive ductal carcinoma. I am fit, thin and otherwise healthy. I still have soreness and tightness under my arm sometimes. I am glad that they are starting to realize some women dont need those checked. It has been 1.5 years since surgery. I also did all the exercises and PT after

2 months agoI had one lymph node removed to make sure I didn't have any tumors. Thank God it came back negative. My surgeon stated that it would be done.

a month agoI was diagnosed with ER PR Positive, HER2 Negative on 10/1/2025. The tumor was only 8mm at the time of biopsy. Had a right breast mastectomy on 12/10/2025 with the removal of 5 sentenial lymph nodes. My tumor was the fast growing type, 26mm upon removal and thank God all lymph nodes tested negative. My first oncologist visit is 1/27, to determine the course of treatment as the tumor is the type likely to reoccur. The decision to harvest sentenial nodes was based on my specific markers and family history. I was the first ever male breast cancer patient my surgeon treated.
