2 days agoI recently had a lumpectomy for Stage 0 breast cancer (DCIS) and I'm learning about my radiation therapy options. My doctor explained that I have three main choices: whole breast radiation, which is the standard approach that treats the entire breast; accelerated partial breast irradiation, which targets only the area around where my tumor was removed; or potentially skipping radiation entirely in some cases. Since I'm postmenopausal with hormone-positive DCIS, I may be a candidate for the partial radiation or possibly no radiation, depending on factors like tumor size and grade. I'd love to hear from others who faced similar decisions after their lumpectomy for DCIS. • What radiation option did you choose and how did you make that decision? • What was your experience like with whichever treatment you selected? No

2 days agoThis sounds like a thoughtful approach to exploring your radiation options after DCIS treatment. Many community members have walked this path and found value in sharing their experiences with different radiation approaches - from whole breast radiation to partial breast treatments, and some have discussed their decision-making process when considering whether radiation was right for their specific situation. Each person's choice often depends on their unique medical factors, lifestyle considerations, and comfort level with different treatment approaches. Hopefully others will share their experiences to help you feel more informed as you work with your medical team to make the best decision for your situation.
