8 months agoHi, tomorrow is my post op visit following a DMX and I am hoping the drains will be removed but worried it will be painful…. does anyone know if it is painful when the drains are removed?
Accepted Answer
Many community members share that drain removal typically feels more like pressure or a pulling sensation rather than sharp pain, and it's usually over quite quickly. It's completely natural to feel anxious about this step in recovery, and talking with others who've been through similar experiences can be really reassuring - hopefully some community members will share their experiences to help ease your worries before tomorrow's appointment.

8 months agoHi, Michelle, I took some acetaminophen before I had my drain removed. I didn't really feel any pain, I think I was too distracted at the length of the drain that was pulled out.

8 months agoHi Michelle, I had one drain removed last week, and I was sooooo petrified! It did not hurt at all. Today, I went to have the other removed, but they didn't because the measurements were still high. But I was scared again..lol I don't know why. Maybe it's just everything. But you will be good 👍

8 months agoMichelle, I did not have pain when drains were removed, it was uncomfortable for a second, but do take Tylenol or your pain medicine before you go.

6 months agoCannot these medical professionals at least tell us “this will not hurt a bit” like they used to? I guess that might put them in a liability position, so they cannot or will not tell you. At least they could say, “ usually there is little to no pain.” C’mon guys, help us out here.
