3 months agoHi, all. My name is Murry. 2 years w/bladder cancer. I'm being treated at UC Davis regional center. Next week, I'll lose my bladder and prostate due to an aggressive rebound of urothelial cancer tumors after 20 months negative. 5 hour surgery. Anyone ahead of me is invited to comment on post-surgery.

Many community members have shared their recovery journeys after bladder removal surgery, covering topics like healing timelines, managing daily activities, and adapting to changes - hopefully some will share their insights to help you prepare for what's ahead.

2 months agoNow I'm post-7 hour robo surgery that removed bladder and prostate after repurposing a section of ilium into an external stoma. Heavy cramps day 1 at home after 8 hospital days, but everything is moving. Tiny appetite. Yesterday, pathology revealed NMIBC (non-metastatic) tumors in removed bladder. Prior 7 PETscans were neg but the last one went bright positive. Note that monthly Signatera test for specific cancer DNA continues Negative. Hmm, now where is that pound pkg of NY pastrami....

2 months agoRecovery continues. Having difficulty with bowel movements (constipation). Also, ongoing fatigue. Appetite improved but can't eat more than a third of normal. I am now a master of bag change.
