2 months agoThree weeks ago I underwent a colostomy and for me wish I never had it done. The pain and pressure increased tenfold post-op. I also suffer from CRPS a rare pain disease which has complicated my outcome. Was in hospital for two weeks and they wanted me to go into a SNF for rehab to get stronger. If I did that I would have only gotten weaker so I opted to come home where I am forced to move and care for myself.

2 months agoPost-surgical pain and adjustment challenges with a new colostomy can be difficult to navigate, especially when dealing with additional pain conditions. Recovery timelines vary significantly from person to person, and the first few weeks are often the most challenging as the body heals and adapts. Many patients find it helpful to stay in close contact with their surgical team about pain management options and to connect with others who have similar experiences in this community for practical tips and emotional support.
