Has anyone had a lumpectomy with oncoplasty followed by radiation? Any issues or regrets or would you do again?

This is such an important question about lumpectomy with oncoplasty followed by radiation treatment. Many people in this community have experience with different surgical approaches and radiation therapy, and hearing about their recovery journeys and outcomes can be really valuable when making treatment decisions. The experiences shared here often help others understand what to expect and feel more prepared for their own treatment path. Hopefully some community members who have been through this specific combination of treatments will share their perspectives with you.

Hi, Faye. I did and I would likely do it again. I will need another surgery to even out my breasts because my breast that has/had cancer healed smaller and radiation will make it even smaller. Radiation starts today. I definitely have hard moments but mostly feel great.

I had 33 radiation treatments after chemo and did not have any burning. It was a long 7 weeks every day, with a long drive involved, but I would do it again .

I would do it again. I asked my surgeon to make me flat so the chances of coming back would be minimized. He wouldn’t do it. Radiation wasn’t bad but the side affects linger months after treatment. I’m still sore on the cancer side after almost a year. I had both breasts reduced and only the cancer side still hurts

I had lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy. I have no regrets Radiotherapy was not painful and I had minimal skin reaction I did have some tiredness for weeks afterwards but I’ve no regrets as I know I’ve reduced my risk for local recurrence
