7 months agoDoes anyone have experience with their implants flipping? I had a double mastectomy with implants (round, high profile implants) and they flip every time I lay on my side. Every morning I wake up and have to get on my hands and knees and manually flip them. Has anyone had this issue and had surgery to exchange implants for a lower profile and for pocket revision? If so, did it work?

This sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with every morning, and it's completely understandable that you're looking for a solution. Implant flipping after mastectomy can happen for various reasons, and revision surgery with different implant profiles or pocket adjustments is something many people in similar situations have explored with their plastic surgeons. Speaking with a reconstructive surgeon who specializes in post-mastectomy reconstruction would be the best way to discuss whether these options might help in your specific case.

6 months agoHi Susan, I just had this discussion with the surgeon about the implants flipping. She said 💯 of the time they flip, which shocked me. Then she said she uses ones that are all round and when they flip you won't notice them. I'm not comfortable with that answer. Because of this and the fact that I may not be ok with silicone implants in my body, I may choose the DIEP. But then I worry about more recovery time and pain. I'm still so torn about what to do.

6 months agoFor a single implant, I have never had mine flip! Mine is tacked down under the muscle. My implant is saline that was matched with my remaining left. I had an expander. Different schools of thought, I guess!

6 months agoDon’t miss wearing bras at all! I went with flat chest. After surgery you can’t wear one for awhile, then with radiation burns and rash you can’t wear one either. It’s been 4 months since I’ve been able to and at this point I hardly care! But everybody is different.
