20 hours agoI was diagnosed with oral cancer last summer and had recent surgery in December. I now have lymphedema all around the surgical sites. My face and leg ( the fibula was taken out to reconstruct my jaw). Are swollen a lot now and distorting the size of my face and foot... is this normal?? Is this temporary???

15 hours agoLymphedema can be a common side effect following oral cancer surgery, especially when lymph nodes are removed or affected during the procedure. The swelling you're experiencing in both your face and leg areas is understandable given the extensive reconstruction work involved. Many patients in similar situations find that swelling gradually improves over time with proper management, though recovery timelines can vary significantly from person to person. Consider discussing lymphedema management techniques with your surgical team or asking about referral to a lymphedema specialist who can provide specific guidance for your situation.
